Tuesday brings a loaded night in DFS with 15 games to choose from. Whether it’s ace pitchers or lineups with favorable matchups, there are various ways to attack this slate. Here are some of the better options to consider when crafting your lineup. STARTING PITCHERS
Chris Paddack vs. San Francisco Giants
Stadium – Oracle Park
FanDuel = $9,300
DraftKings = $10,600
Has regression started to hit Paddack? Over his last four outings, he’s allowed 17 runs (13 earned) in 20 innings. While those numbers are ugly, it should be noted that he faced the Dodgers, Yankees and Phillies during that stretch. That’s tough for even the best of pitchers. This is a great opportunity for him to get back on track considering the Giants have second-lowest OPS (.651) in baseball.
John Means vs. Toronto Blue Jays
Stadium – Oriole Park at Camden Yards
FanDuel = $7,700
DraftKings = $7,100
The Orioles starting rotation is a mess. One of their lone bright spots has been Means, who checks in with a 2.67 ERA and a 1.07 WHIP. His 4.03 FIP indicates he hasn’t exactly pitched that well, although it’s hard to ignore that he’s allowed exactly one earned run in seven of his 10 starts. The Blue Jays are towards the bottom of the league in most major offensive categories, leaving Means as a cheap option to target in tournament play.
CATCHER
Mitch Garver vs. Mike Leake, Seattle Mariners
Stadium – Target Field
FanDuel = $3,300
DraftKings = $5,000
Among the many things that have gone right for the Twins lineup this season has been the stellar performance by Garver. He’s making a case to be considered as one of the best offensive catchers in the league, posting a .376 ISO and a .451 wOBA. His .367 BABIP likely isn’t sustainable, so even if he continues to hit for a ton of power, he’s likely in line for some regression in the batting average department. Still, Leake has allowed 18 home runs over 81.2 innings, making Garver one of the top catchers to target.
Others to consider: Kurt Suzuki
FIRST BASE
Howie Kendrick vs. Manny Banuelos, Chicago White Sox
Stadium – Guaranteed Rate Field
FanDuel = $3,000
DraftKings = $5,300
These are two pretty contrasting prices for Kendrick. He’s probably too expensive on DraftKings, but he’s going to be hard to pass up on FanDuel. Banuelos has been awful with his 6.69 FIP and Kendrick has a 179 wRC+ versus lefties this season. The Nationals will receive the benefit of having the DH available to them with this game being played in Chicago, so expect Kendrick to be locked into the starting lineup.
Others to consider: Josh Bell and C.J. Cron
SECOND BASE
Brian Dozier vs. Manny Banuelos, Chicago White Sox
Stadium – Guaranteed Rate Field
FanDuel = $2,700
DraftKings = $4,000
If you are deploying a Nationals stack, Dozier could provide plenty of salary relief while still carrying upside. After a slow start, he is 14-for-40 (.350) with three home runs and five doubles over his last 13 games. He’s also torching lefties with a 200 wRC+ against them this season.
Others to consider: Mike Moustakas and Brandon Lowe
THIRD BASE
Anthony Rendon vs. Manny Banuelos, Chicago White Sox
Stadium – Guaranteed Rate Field
FanDuel = $4,400
DraftKings = $5,500
Yes, the Nationals are one of my favorite stacks of the night. They scored 12 runs against the porous White Sox staff Monday, although Rendon was barely involved in the action by going 1-for-5 with a run scored. Don’t expect such a quiet game from him Tuesday since he has a career .381 wOBA versus lefties.
Others to consider: Rafael Devers and Colin Moran
SHORTSTOP
Corey Seager vs. Felix Pena, Los Angeles Angels
Stadium – Angel Stadium
FanDuel = $3,600
DraftKings = $4,300
With another base knock Monday, Seager now has an eight-game hitting streak. It hasn’t been a cheap one, either, with him hitting 14-for-33 (.424) with a home run and a whopping seven doubles. He has a career 140 wRC+ against right-handed hitters, leaving him with a favorable opportunity to continue his recent run of success with Pena on the mound.
Others to consider: Trea Turner and Jean Segura
OUTFIELD
Max Kepler vs. Mike Leake, Seattle Mariners
Stadium – Target Field
FanDuel = $3,800
DraftKings = $4,800
Considering how susceptible Leake has been to home runs this season, loading up on the Twins’ power bats could be a sound strategy. Kepler is certainly one of their top options in that department based on his .273 ISO. Not only is he in the midst of a breakout campaign in the power department, but he’s done it while recording just a 15.1 percent strikeout rate.
Nelson Cruz vs. Mike Leake, Seattle Mariners
Stadium – Target Field
FanDuel = $3,500
DraftKings = $4,700
When Cruz goes on a heater, he can do a ton of damage. He’s on one right now having hit a home run in four straight games. Although he’s only played 40 games due to injury, he still has 11 home runs, giving him a shot at hitting at least 30 long balls for the sixth consecutive season. At this reasonable price, don’t hesitate to add him to your entry.
Yordan Alvarez vs. Freddy Peralta, Milwaukee Brewers
Stadium – Minute Maid Park
FanDuel = $2,500
DraftKings = $3,800
One of the more highly-regarded hitters in the minors, the Astros sure took their time calling up Alvarez despite all of their injuries. He was crushing Triple-A with a .399 ISO, so they finally decided to bring him up Sunday. He wasted no time making an impact, launching a home run against Dylan Bundy. Peralta has allowed 1.6 HR/9 this season, so take advantage of Alvarez at this cheap price while you still can.
Others to consider: Joc Pederson and Jarrod Dyson
