MLB Daily Fantasy Baseball Recommendations for 6/12/2019

It won’t be the busiest of nights Wednesday with eight games making up the main evening slate in DFS. Not only will several of the leagues worst teams be in action, but there are a few bad pitchers scheduled to take the mound. Let’s discuss some players to target based on their favorable matchups. Don’t forget to sign up for our Newsletter and try our MLB Lineup Optimizer to help build a winning entry on FanDuel and DraftKings.

STARTING PITCHERS

MLB Daily Fantasy Baseball Recommendations for 6/12/19

Mike Soroka vs. Pittsburgh Pirates
Stadium – SunTrust Park
FanDuel = $10,600
DraftKings = $10,900

There are few pitchers in baseball who have been as consistently good as Soroka has been this season. Amazingly, he’s allowed one or no earned runs in nine of his 10 starts. Not much of a strikeout pitcher, he has just a 6.5 percent walk rate and has given up only one home run over 65.1 innings. He’s no longer the bargain that he was earlier in the season, but he still stands out as one of the top options for this slate.

Joey Lucchesi vs. San Francisco Giants
Stadium – Oracle Park
FanDuel = $7,900
DraftKings = $9,600

Attacking the Giants lineup has proven to be a sound strategy more often than not since they are in the bottom-four in the league in runs scored, home runs and OPS. They have been especially poor with a 68 wRC+ against left-handed pitchers, leaving Lucchesi with the potential for an excellent performance. His price on FanDuel is excellent, although he is a bit pricey on DraftKings. If you are looking for a cheaper pitcher there, I also like Miles Mikolas ($7,200) against the Marlins.

CATCHER

MLB Daily Fantasy Baseball Recommendations for 6/12/19

Mitch Garver vs. Tommy Milone, Seattle Mariners
Stadium – Target Field
FanDuel = $3,400
DraftKings = $5,100

Get ready for the Twins to be the chalk stack of the night. They lead the league with a 134 wRC+ against lefties and will be facing an underwhelming one in Milone who has a career 4.50 FIP. Garver jumps out as the top catcher considering his lofty 225 wRC+ versus southpaws this season.

Others to consider: Pedro Severino

FIRST BASE

MLB Daily Fantasy Baseball Recommendations for 6/12/19

C.J. Cron vs. Tommy Milone, Seattle Mariners
Stadium – Target Field
FanDuel = $3,600
DraftKings = $4,500

As we continue to pile on against Milone, Cron carries plenty of upside. He’s shown that his 30-homer campaign with the Rays last year was no fluke, slugging 14 home runs and posting a .263 ISO through his first 58 games. He has also destroyed lefties with his 205 wRC+ against them this season.

Others to consider: Freddie Freeman and Trey Mancini

SECOND BASE

MLB Daily Fantasy Baseball Recommendations for 6/12/19

Eric Sogard vs. David Hess, Baltimore Orioles
Stadium – Oriole Park at Camden Yards
FanDuel = $2,900
DraftKings = $4,900

Despite the Blue Jays struggling to score runs this season, they still have a chance to be productive with Hess on the mound for the Orioles. He’s really only still in the starting rotation due to their lack of options. It’s hard to find an encouraging stat when you look at his numbers, which include a 6.90 FIP and a 1.51 WHIP. Sogard already enters this game swinging a hot bat since he is 12-for-34 (.353) with two home runs and two doubles over his last 10 games.

Others to consider: Jonathan Schoop and Kolten Wong

THIRD BASE

MLB Daily Fantasy Baseball Recommendations for 6/12/19

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. vs. David Hess, Baltimore Orioles
Stadium – Oriole Park at Camden Yards
FanDuel = $3,100
DraftKings = $4,200

Hess also can’t keep hitters inside the ballpark, giving up 20 home runs over 61 innings. That should play right into Guerrero’s wheelhouse based on his power. While he doesn’t have the platoon advantage, it should be noted that Hess has allowed a higher wOBA versus righties (.421) than he has lefties (.329) this year.

Others to consider: Miguel Sano and Renato Nunez

SHORTSTOP

MLB Daily Fantasy Baseball Recommendations for 6/12/19

Jonathan Villar vs. Edwin Jackson, Toronto Blue Jays
Stadium – Oriole Park at Camden Yards
FanDuel = $3,100
DraftKings = $4,600

Believe it or not, Jackson has been even worse than Hess. His days in the Blue Jays rotation might be numbered since he’s allowed an 8.43 FIP and a 2.24 WHIP across five starts.  The switching-hitting Villar contributed a couple of doubles in the first game of this series Tuesday and is in a favorable position as the Orioles leadoff hitter versus righties to get plenty of at-bats in this contest.

Others to consider: Jorge Polanco and Fernando Tatis Jr.

OUTFIELD

MLB Daily Fantasy Baseball Recommendations for 6/12/19

Nelson Cruz vs. Tommy Milone, Seattle Mariners
Stadium – Target Field
FanDuel = $3,600
DraftKings = $4,800

Alright, let’s get back to the Twins. Cruz has wasted no time since returning from the IL, hitting four home runs across six games. His power is unquestioned and he has a career .392 wOBA versus left-handed pitchers, so expect him to be a thorn in the side of Milone during this contest.

Bryon Buxton vs. Tommy Milone, Seattle Mariners
Stadium – Target Field
FanDuel = $3,400
DraftKings = $4,600

The Twins lineup is so great that Buxton has been batting ninth. Yes, a player with a .352 wOBA, eight home runs and 10 steals is hitting ninth. While he doesn’t carry the same power upside that the likes of Cruz, Garver and Cron do, he has a robust 174 wRC+ against lefties.

Keon Broxton vs. Edwin Jackson, Toronto Blue Jays
Stadium – Oriole Park at Camden Yards
FanDuel = $2,300
DraftKings = $3,700

Broxton has hit a wall lately, going 0-for-16 in his last five games. His propensity for striking out is a problem, but that might not be a big concern for this matchup since Jackson has a 14.4 percent strikeout rate. If you want to take a chance on a really cheap option in tournament play, Broxton is at least someone to consider.

Others to consider: Jay Bruce and Lourdes Gurriel Jr.
