MLB Daily Fantasy Baseball Recommendations for 6/6/2019
With only five games included in the main evening slate of DFS on Thursday, we don’t have a ton of great options to choose from. Still, there are some teams and players who stand out as being in favorable positions to provide value. Don’t forget to sign up for our Newsletter and try our MLB Lineup Optimizer to help build a winning entry on FanDuel and DraftKings.
STARTING PITCHERS
Patrick Corbin vs. San Diego Padres
Stadium – Petco Park
FanDuel = $10,900
DraftKings = $10,300
Corbin immediately jumps off the page as the top pitcher. Despite getting hit hard in his last outing, he’s having a strong first season in Washington with a 3.46 FIP and a 1.14 WHIP. He carries significant strikeout upside into any of his starts but will do that even more so for this matchup against a Padres team that has struck out the second-most times (605) in baseball. Even though he’ll eat up a lot of your budget, this is a matchup to exploit.
Joey Lucchesi vs. Washingon Nationals
Stadium – Petco Park
FanDuel = $8,200
DraftKings = $9,000
Staying in that same game brings us to Lucchesi, who’s excellent start has been somewhat overlooked due to Chris Paddack storming onto the scene. Lucchesi has pitched well in his own right, recording a 3.57 FIP and a 1.11 WHIP. He’s been even more locked in of late, allowing three runs or fewer in each of his last five starts. That included a matchup against the Dodgers and having to face the Rockies at Coors Field. With so few quality cheaper arms on the board, Lucchesi could be a viable alternative if you don’t want to pay up for Corbin.
CATCHER
Gary Sanchez vs. Edwin Jackson, Toronto Blue Jays
Stadium – Rogers Centre
FanDuel = $4,500
DraftKings = $5,500
The Yankees figure to be the chalk stack of the night against Edwin Jackson, who has allowed 26 runs (24 earned) across 16.1 innings in his four starts this season. He’s also given up six home runs, so Sanchez certainly has the potential to be a thorn in his side. After going deep yet again Wednesday, Sanchez has a staggering .390 ISO this season.
Others to consider: Josh Phegley
FIRST BASE
Ronald Guzman vs. David Hess, Baltimore Orioles
Stadium – Globe Life Park in Arlington
FanDuel = $3,300
DraftKings = $4,100
If you’re sitting in the outfield seats when Hess is pitching, bring your glove. As if it wasn’t bad enough last year that he allowed 1.9 HR/9, he’s been even worse this season, giving up 19 long balls in just 55 innings. Guzman might not hit for average, but he does have a .262 ISO, making him a viable power threat to consider.
Others to consider: Luke Voit and Trey Mancini
SECOND BASE
DJ LeMahieu vs. Edwin Jackson, Toronto Blue Jays
Stadium – Rogers Centre
FanDuel = $3,800
DraftKings = $4,400
Continuing to hunt for Yankees against Jackson, LeMahieu checks in as one of the top options. He’s not all that cheap on FanDuel, but he’s priced very favorably on DraftKings. He’s proven to be a huge addition with the Yankees suffering so many injuries, hitting atop their lineup more often than not and posting a .352 wOBA.
Others to consider: Rougned Odor and Jurickson Profar
THIRD BASE
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. vs. J.A. Happ, New York Yankees
Stadium – Rogers Centre
FanDuel = $3,000
DraftKings = $3,800
Guerrero can change the complexion of a game anytime he steps in the batter’s box and he did just that Wednesday by launching a go-ahead homer in the eighth inning. Despite struggling at times in his first taste of action in the big leagues, he’s shown plenty of power and has tremendous upside. Happ has allowed 2.1 HR/9 this year, so he could be in trouble here against Guerrero.
Others to consider: Matt Chapman and Gio Urshela
SHORTSTOP
David Fletcher vs. Mike Fiers, Oakland Athletics
Stadium – Angel Stadium
FanDuel = $3,100
DraftKings = $4,100
The Angels must have a thing for shortstops who don’t strike out. Their normal starter Andrelton Simmons (ankle), who is currently on the IL, has a career 8.9 percent strikeout rate. Filling in for him has been Flecther, who has a 9.1 percent career strikeout rate. They have to be thrilled with Flecther’s recent production considering he is 23-for-62 (.371) with six doubles over his last 15 games. Of note, he is only listed at shortstop on FanDuel since he is eligible at third base and the outfield on DraftKings.
Others to consider: Elvis Andrus and Gleyber Torres
OUTFIELD
Shohei Ohtani vs. Mike Fiers, Oakland Athletics
Stadium – Angel Stadium
FanDuel = $3,500
DraftKings = $3,900
Look out, here comes Ohtani. It’s taken him some time to get his feet under him after spending the start of the year on the IL, but he’s 9-for-30 (.300) with three home runs and 11 RBI over his last seven games. Fiers has a 5.36 FIP despite throwing a no-hitter this year and has yet again had problems keeping hitters inside the ballpark, allowing 1.7 HR/9. Ohtani could provide tremendous value in this matchup, especially based on his price on DraftKings.
Keon Broxton vs. Ariel Jurado, Texas Rangers
Stadium – Globe Life Park in Arlington
FanDuel = $2,700
DraftKings = $3,900
Desperate for a boost to their lineup, the Orioles have wasted no time making Broxton an everyday player. While he isn’t exactly steamrolling his opponents, he does have three home runs and a double across 10 games since joining the team. That kind of power could play well at Globe Life Park. He’s not exactly facing the most overwhelming force in Jurado, who has just a 12 percent strikeout rate for his career.
Teoscar Hernandez vs. J.A. Happ, New York Yankees
Stadium – Rogers Centre
FanDuel = $2,000
DraftKings = $3,200
After getting off to a terrible start, the Blue Jays decided to demote Hernandez to Triple-A. He didn’t exactly shine down there with a .330 wOBA, but they still decided that the time was right to bring him back up Wednesday. He immediately made his presence felt, going 2-for-5 with two doubles. At such a cheap price on both sites, Hernandez is an interesting option to deploy in tournament play if you pay up at starting pitcher or for a Yankees stack.
