NBA Daily Fantasy Basketball Recommendations for December 2 2019

We have a six-game slate in the NBA on Monday, so we don’t exactly have a bevy of options to choose from in DFS. A few teams will be playing the second leg of a back-to-back set, so we’ll have to monitor for possible rest days, as well. As things currently stand, here are a couple of the better options at each position to consider. POINT GUARDS

NBA Daily Fantasy Basketball Recommendations for December 2 2019

Trae Young, ATL vs. GS
FanDuel = $10,000
DraftKings = $10,500

The John Collins suspension was a huge blow to the Hawks. While they have some appealing young players, the depth behind him and Young is not ideal. Now with Young left to shoulder the load, he’s posted a 34.4 percent usage rate. Not only is he averaging 28.4 points per game, but he’s also averaged 4.2 rebounds, 8.4 assists and 1.4 steals. Facing a Warriors team that has allowed the fifth-most points per game is about as good of a matchup as it gets for Young.

Tyus Jones, MEM vs. IND
FanDuel = $4,000
DraftKings = $5,600

The point guard of the future (and the present for that matter) for the Grizzlies is Ja Morant. He’s off to an excellent start to his rookie campaign, but he’s currently week-to-week with a back injury. His absence opens up the door for Jones to start, who cashed in his new role to record 12 points, four rebounds, seven assists, one steal and one block Sunday against the Timberwolves. His price hasn’t jumped up on FanDuel, making him an ideal play there. While he’s not as cheap on DraftKings, he’s still worth considering.

SHOOTING GUARDS

NBA Daily Fantasy Basketball Recommendations for December 2 2019

Zach LaVine, CHI at SAC
FanDuel = $7,900
DraftKings = $7,900

LaVine hasn’t been as efficient out of the gate, shooting 43.1 percent from the field. Last season, he shot 46.7 percent. However, his usage rate is still high at 30 percent, which has enabled him to average 22.2 points per game. He’s been in coach Jim Boylen’s doghouse at times because of his poor play on defense, but he’s logged at least 35 minutes in three of the last four games, coming away with at least 28 points in each of those contests. While he’s a bit risky, LaVine’s role on the team leaves him with significant upside.

Bogdan Bogdanovic, SAC vs. CHI
FanDuel = $6,200
DraftKings = $6,200

Bogdanovic hasn’t been the same player since missing a game with a hamstring injury. Across four games since his return, he’s shot only 34.3 percent from the field. However, he’s attempted at least 15 shots in each contest and should continue to receive plenty of shot attempts with De’Aaron Fox (ankle) on the sidelines. The Bulls have had plenty of issues on the defensive end, so don’t let Bogdanovic’s recent struggles deter you from deploying him at this reasonable price.

SMALL FORWARDS

NBA Daily Fantasy Basketball Recommendations for December 2 2019

Alec Burks, GS at ATL
FanDuel = $6,200
DraftKings = $6,000

Burks had another busy game Sunday, scoring 15 points while tying for the team-high with 16 shot attempts. He also chipped in five rebounds, three assists and three steals across 36 minutes. With the Warriors still lacking several of their key players, Burks’ expanded role isn’t going away anytime soon. That makes him a prime target for this game against a Hawks team that has allowed the second-most points per game in the league. Of note, he is only eligible at small forward on FanDuel since he is listed at point guard and shooting guard on DraftKings.

Bruno Caboclo, MEM vs. IND
FanDuel = $3,500
DraftKings = $3,000

The Grizzlies could be really thin up front for this game. Jonas Valanciunas (illness) was unable to take the floor Sunday and Brandon Clarke left that same contest with a hip injury. Caboclo stepped up in their place, posting 12 points, 13 rebounds and three steals across 29 minutes. Valanciunas might be able to return for this contest, but it would seem unlikely that Clarke would, which should leave Caboclo with added playing time. Of note, he is only eligible at small forward on FanDuel since he is listed at power forward and center on DraftKings.

POWER FORWARDS

NBA Daily Fantasy Basketball Recommendations for December 2 2019

Richaun Holmes, SAC vs. CHI
FanDuel = $6,400
DraftKings = $6,500

The Bulls have been a mess up front, allowing the most DraftKings points per game and the second-most FanDuel points per game to opposing centers. Wendell Carter Jr. has shown an ability to block shots, but he often finds himself in foul trouble. Holmes has already averaged 11.3 points, 8.8 rebounds and 1.6 blocks since moving into the starting five, so he could be poised for a big performance here.

Eric Paschall, GS at ATL
FanDuel = $5,900
DraftKings = $5,600

Paschall received an opportunity for added playing time when Draymond Green missed some time earlier this season and has now worked his way into a very significant role. In fact, he’s averaged 18.4 points and 6.1 rebounds across his last 10 games. Although points and rebounds are really the only areas in which he provides much production, he’s still a viable target against a bad Hawks team at such a reasonable price.

CENTERS

NBA Daily Fantasy Basketball Recommendations for December 2 2019

Aron Baynes, PHO at CHA
FanDuel = $6,200
DraftKings = $5,400

Baynes recently missed five games with a hip injury, but he returned Friday against the Mavericks to score 17 points and grab seven rebounds across 25 minutes. He’s done a great job as the starting center in place of Deandre Ayton (suspension), averaging 15.5 points, six rebounds and 3.1 assists across 12 games. The Hornets have allowed the second-most DraftKings points per game and the sixth-most FanDuel points per game to opposing centers, making Baynes and intriguing option.

Robin Lopez, MIL vs. NY
FanDuel = $3,500
DraftKings = $4,400

Normally, Lopez doesn’t receive enough playing time to be on the radar in DFS. However, he started in place of Brook Lopez (back) on Saturday against the Hornets and finished with 13 points, six rebounds, four assists and three blocks across 24 minutes. With his brother listed as doubtful for this contest, the Bucks will need his size against the Knicks’ deep frontcourt, making him an excellent cheap option to take a chance on in tournament play.
