NFL Daily Fantasy Football Recommendations for Week 4 – Quarterbacks
Week 3 certainly brought a lot of excitement with young quarterbacks stepping into starting roles for a few teams. Veterans like Tom Brady and Russell Wilson also played extremely well, setting up some high scores across the league. Let’s dive into the matchups to see who could shine in Week 4. CASH TARGETS
Patrick Mahomes, KC at DET
FanDuel = $9,200
DraftKings = $7,500
There is probably no quarterback in DFS that is safer than Mahomes. He’s been a monster through the first three weeks, throwing for at least 374 yards and three touchdowns in each contest. Not only that, but he still hasn’t thrown an interception. He has plenty of weapons at his disposal, even with Tyreek Hill (collarbone) sidelined, so expect him to have a tremendously high floor once again.
Russell Wilson, SEA at ARI
FanDuel = $7,800
DraftKings = $6,100
The Seahawks are normally a run-heavy team, but they were forced to throw a lot Sunday against the Saints after falling down big early. That resulted in Wilson attempting a whopping 50 passes, which he turned into 406 yards and two touchdowns. Like Mahomes, he hasn’t thrown an interception through his first three games and he’s also been productive with seven total touchdown passes. The Cardinals’ defense has been atrocious in the early going, leaving Wilson as one of the safer quarterback options for this slate.
GPP TARGETS
Jacoby Brissett, IND vs. OAK
FanDuel = $7,300
DraftKings = $5,400
Brissett only threw for 336 total yards over his first two games of the season, but he helped salvage those stat lines with five touchdown passes. He had his best performance of the early going last week against the Falcons, completing 28 of 37 passes for 310 yards and two touchdowns. While we might not see a lot of 300-yard passing games, the Colts have some dangerous weapons on offense, so it’s not unrealistic to think he can’t come away from each contest with a couple of touchdown passes. This matchup at home against the Raiders makes him someone to at least consider in tournament play.
Daniel Jones, NYG vs. WAS
FanDuel = $7,300
DraftKings = $5,300
After an 0-2 start in which they struggled on both sides of the ball, the Giants decided to move on from Eli Manning and usher in the Jones era at quarterback. It’s difficult to play much better than he did in his debut, throwing for 336 yards and two touchdowns. He also chipped in 28 yards and two touchdowns on the ground in a dramatic come from behind win. The Giants’ defense should struggle all season, leaving their offense in plenty of high-scoring shootouts. Add in running back Saquan Barkley (ankle) set to miss some time and Jones is going to have a heavy workload against the Redskins.
Matthew Stafford, DET vs. KC
FanDuel = $6,900
DraftKings = $5,500
Stafford started off the season on a high note against the Cardinals, throwing for 385 yards and three touchdowns. He followed that up with two scores in Week 2 and was set up with a favorable matchup Sunday against an Eagles defense that struggles to defend the pass. However, he couldn’t take advantage, completing only 18 of 32 passes for 201 yards and one touchdown. That game was on the road, where he has 112 touchdowns and 60 interceptions across 72 games during his career. He has been more productive at home, throwing for 131 scores in the same amount of games. The Lions are likely going to need to throw a lot to keep up with the Chiefs, leaving Stafford with the potential to provide significant value at this price.
PLAYERS TO AVOID
Baker Mayfield, CLE at BAL
FanDuel = $7,500
DraftKings = $5,800
The Browns’ offense entered this season with lofty expectations after they added Odell Beckham Jr. to holdovers Mayfield and Jarvis Landry. However, it’s been a struggle through their first three games, especially in terms of protecting Mayfield. Case in point, he’s already been sacked 11 times. That’s been a contributing factor for him throwing just three touchdown passes to go along with five interceptions. Wilson is similarly priced on both sites and has a much more favorable matchup, so avoiding Mayfield might be the prudent move.
Kirk Cousins, MIN at CHI
FanDuel = $6,900
DraftKings = $5,000
Dalvin Cook has been steamrolling opposing defenses, turning 57 carries into 375 yards and four touchdowns. That hasn’t left a lot of opportunities for Cousins, who has attempted 21 passes or fewer in two of their first three games. He threw for fewer than 200 yards in both of those contests and hasn’t thrown for multiple touchdowns in any of the first three weeks. A tough matchup on the road against the Bears even further limits his upside.
