NFL Daily Fantasy Football Recommendations for Week 5 – Wide Receivers

The main Sunday afternoon slate in DFS for Week 5 is missing some key names with the Chiefs, Browns and Rams all among the teams who won’t be available. With that in mind, here are the top options to pursue. Don’t forget to sign up for our Newsletter and try our NFL Lineup Optimizer to help build a winning entry on FanDuel and DraftKings.

CASH TARGETS

NFL Daily Fantasy Football Recommendations for Week 5 - Wide Receivers

Chris Godwin, TB at NO
FanDuel = $7,800
DraftKings = $6,900

Godwin seemed prime for a huge performance in Week 3 against a porous Giants’ secondary, but it was his teammate Mike Evans who feasted. That left Godwin with a quiet stat line of three catches for 40 yards. He quickly put that performance in his rear view mirror, catching 12 of 14 targets for 172 yards and two touchdowns last week against the Rams. He already has four touchdowns across four games and should continue to have a high target share, even with having to share the field with Evans.

Michael Thomas, NO vs. TB
FanDuel = $7,700
DraftKings = $6,600

The loss of Drew Brees (thumb) was a huge blow for the Saints, but they’ve actually won both game with Teddy Bridgewater as their starter. Thomas has remained the focal point of the passing attack, most recently catching all nine of his targets for 95 yards against the Cowboys in Week 4. The Buccaneers have allowed the second-most passing yards per game in the league, setting up Thomas with a high floor once again.

Tyler Boyd, CIN vs. ARI
FanDuel = $6,700
DraftKings = $6,500

Nothing went right for the Bengals in their matchup against the Steelers on Monday. Their offense couldn’t get anything going, which included Boyd catching only three of six targets for 33 yards. As ugly as that stat line was, don’t get overly discouraged by one bad outing. Boyd had received at least 10 targets in each of the first three games, totaling at least 60 yards in each contest. The Cardinals are currently sporting one of the worst defenses in the league, so look for Boyd to rebound with a juicy stat line.

GPP TARGETS

NFL Daily Fantasy Football Recommendations for Week 5 - Wide Receivers

Larry Fitzgerald, ARI at CIN
FanDuel = $5,800
DraftKings = $6,000

The good thing about the Cardinals struggling on defense is that it has forced them to throw the ball more. Fitzgerald stormed out of the gate with 13 catches for 217 yards and a touchdown in the first two games of the season, receiving at least 11 targets in both contests. However, he has a total of 12 targets in two games since, catching 10 of them for 83 yards and a score. This could end up being a high-scoring game, making Fitzgerald a potential bargain at this price.

Auden Tate, CIN vs. ARI
FanDuel = $5,300
DraftKings = $3,500

While Boyd is the number one receiver for the Bengals, John Ross has also been heavily involved with 16 catches for 328 yards and three touchdowns. Ross went down with a shoulder injury against the Steelers, which enabled Tate to catch four of six targets for 50 yards. Since Ross is now on IR, Tate should step into an expanded role. If you decide to fade Boyd, rolling with Tate could also be a way to gain some cheap exposure to this matchup.

Diontae Johnson, PIT vs. BAL
FanDuel = $5,000
DraftKings = $4,400

With Antonio Brown long gone and Donte Moncrief struggling, the Steelers need someone to step up and help take some of the pressure off of JuJu Smith-Schuster. One player who has done just that is Johnson, who has at least six targets, 52 receiving yards and one touchdown in back-to-back games. The Ravens have actually allowed the third-most passing yards per game, leaving Johnson as an intriguing cost-effective option.

PLAYERS TO AVOID

NFL Daily Fantasy Football Recommendations for Week 5 - Wide Receivers

Tyrell Williams, OAK vs. CHI
FanDuel = $5,900
DraftKings = $5,200

Williams stormed out of the gate with 105 receiving yards against the Broncos, but he only has a total of 111 yards over his last three games. On the bright side, he has scored a touchdown in all four games and is the Raiders’ undisputed top wide receiver. The problem here is that he’ll have to face a stingy Bears’ defense, so don’t be surprised if his scoring streak is snapped in this contest.

Will Fuller V, HOU vs. ATL
FanDuel = $5,700
DraftKings = $4,500

Fuller has been able to remain healthy, leaving him to log at least 90.9 percent of the Texans’ offensive snaps in every game so far. However, he hasn’t been productive. He’s registered 51 yards or fewer in three of four games and is still looking for his first touchdown. While his price on DraftKings isn’t bad, rolling with Tate at $1,000 less is more appealing. You can even snap up Fitzgerald for just $100 more on FanDuel, making it difficult to take a chance on this being the week that Fuller breaks out.
