NFL Daily Fantasy Football Recommendations for Week 6 – Quarterbacks
We have four teams on a bye during Week 6 and one game in London that has an early start time Sunday, leaving us with fewer options than normal for the main DFS slate. With that being said, there are still some very intriguing quarterbacks to discuss. CASH TARGETS
Lamar Jackson, BAL vs. CIN
FanDuel = $8,200
DraftKings = $6,900
I included Jackson in this section last week and he bombed against the Steelers. While he contributed 70 rushing yards, he only threw for 161 yards and a touchdown while getting picked off three times. The interceptions are a bit concerning since he has five of them in his last two games, but I’m going back to the well with him for this matchup. The Bengals have allowed eight touchdown passes while generating just two interceptions and their 109.6 passer rating allowed is the fifth-highest in the league.
Matt Ryan, ATL at ARI
FanDuel = $8,100
DraftKings = $6,400
The Falcons are off to a 1-4 start in large part due to their defensive struggles. Ryan has remained productive, throwing for at least 304 yards in each of their five contests. Although he’s already matched his total from all of last year with seven interceptions, he also has 11 touchdown passes. A matchup against the Cardinals is an excellent opportunity for him to provide another juicy stat line considering they have allowed 12 touchdown passes without picking off a single pass.
GPP TARGETS
Kyler Murray, ARI vs. ATL
FanDuel = $7,700
DraftKings = $6,500
After back-to-back games with at least 300 passing yards to start his career, Murray has a combined 667 yards over his last three games. Just as concerning is that he hasn’t thrown a touchdown pass in either of his last two contests. The silver lining has been the added value that he has provided with his legs, including turning 10 carries into 93 yards and a touchdown last week against the Bengals. Look for him to have one of his more explosive performances through the air against the Falcons since they have allowed the second-highest passer rating (117) in the league.
Kirk Cousins, MIN vs. PHI
FanDuel = $7,000
DraftKings = $5,200
The Vikings relied heavily on their ground attack through their first four games, which didn’t leave Cousins with many opportunities to provide value. After some of their wide receivers publicly expressed their displeasure with the team’s style of offense, the Vikings took a more aggressive approach through the air last week against the Giants. Cousins certainly stepped up to the occasion, completing 22 of 27 passes for 306 yards and two touchdowns. Even with the Eagles shutting down the lackluster Jets in Week 5, they have still allowed the sixth-most passing yards per game. Don’t be surprised to see Cousins have another productive afternoon.
Gardner Minshew II, JAC vs. NO
FanDuel = $6,900
DraftKings = $5,000
The Jaguars haven’t skipped a beat with Nick Foles (collarbone) injured and that’s partly because of the stellar play of Minshew. The rookie hasn’t been overwhelmed in the slightest, throwing nine touchdowns compared to only one interception. He even recorded a whopping 374 passing yards against the Panthers last week, who have allowed the fourth-fewest passing yards in the league for the season. At this reasonable price, Minshew is at least worth a look in tournament play.
PLAYERS TO AVOID
Joe Flacco, DEN vs. TEN
FanDuel = $6,600
DraftKings = $4,800
After torching the Jaguars for 303 yards and three touchdowns the previous week, Flacco came crashing back down to Earth against the Chargers, throwing for only 182 yards and a touchdown. He only has six touchdown passes on the season and has thrown an interception in four straight games. The Titans have allowed just eight touchdown passes while generating five interceptions through five games, leaving Flacco with very little upside.
Marcus Mariota, TEN at DEN
FanDuel = $6,500
DraftKings = $4,900
The Titans and Bills provided a defensive slug fest in Week 5 that wasn’t a big shocker considering how well they both played defensively. Mariota finished with 183 passing yards and did not record a touchdown pass for the second time this season. He’s thrown for 248 yards or fewer in four of five games and will once again have his work cut out for him against a Broncos team that has allowed the fifth-fewest passing yards per game. Despite his cheap price, keep him out of your entry.
