NBA Daily Fantasy Basketball Lineup Picks for 12/20/17 – Value Plays

Wednesday’s slate in the NBA is loaded with 12 games, giving you plenty of options for your DFS entry. We took a look at some of the overall excellent plays in Wednesday’s article on Sports Illustrated, but let’s now dive deeper into only the cheaper value plays that can help make you a winner.

POINT GUARDS

NBA Daily Fantasy Basketball Lineup Picks - Value Plays

George Hill, SAC at BKN
FanDuel = $4,600
DraftKings = $4,800

Hill did not play Tuesday due to an illness but is expected to return for Wednesday’s game against the Nets. Fellow guard De’Aaron Fox (quad) entered Tuesday’s game with an injury and tried to play, but had to leave the game early. Considering Fox missed Sunday’s game with the same injury, it would be surprising if he plays Wednesday. That would leave Hill in line for increased minutes, giving him a boost in value. He scored 16 points to go along with five assists and one steal in 33 minutes with Fox out Sunday, making him someone to consider again for this game.

Dejounte Murray, SA at POR

DraftKings = $4,100

The Spurs have ruled out starting point guard Tony Parker (rest) on Wednesday, which should open up more playing time for Murray. Murray started the last three games that Parker missed, averaging 19.3 points, 10.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game. While it might be hard to replicate those numbers Wednesday, he won’t need to in order to still have excellent value at this price.

SHOOTING GUARDS

Justin Holiday, CHI vs. ORL

Holiday has seen significant playing time of late, logging at least 38 minutes in three of his last six games. The Bulls finally have some depth with Nikola Mirotic, Bobby Portis, and David Nwaba all healthy, which is making it harder for defenses to key in on Holiday. He’s not just an offensive threat either as he is averaging career-highs in both rebounds (4.5) and steals (1.3) per game. The Magic play at the seventh-fastest pace (102.2) in the league, so look for Holiday to have a chance to make a big impact in this game.

Josh Hart, LAL at HOU
FanDuel = $3,900
DraftKings = $3,000

Hart is likely to receive another start Wednesday as Kentavious Caldwell-Pope will be unable to play as he can’t leave the state of California due to a legal issue. Hart started on the road Thursday against the Cavaliers, finishing with 11 points, 10 rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block in 33 minutes. Both the Lakers and Rockets are in the top-eight in the league in pace of play, so this could be a high-scoring affair. Hart is someone to consider based on his dirt cheap price on both sites.

SMALL FORWARDS

Josh Richardson, MIA at BOS

The Heat are running out of healthy players. Hassan Whiteside (knee) and James Johnson (ankle) have already been ruled out Wednesday, Justise Winslow (knee) is doubtful and Goran Dragic (elbow) is going to try and play after missing Monday’s game. With so few options left, Richardson has been forced to log at least 36 minutes in three of his last four games. He has shown great upside in his last two games, averaging 27.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.0 steals, 2.5 blocks and 4.0 three-pointers per contest. With plenty of minutes likely available Wednesday, consider Richardson for your entry.

Mario Hezonja, ORL at CHI

DraftKings = $4,700

Injuries continue to pile up around the league as the Magic will be without Aaron Gordon (calf) on Wednesday. Hezonja has played at least 31 minutes in three of the last four games due to Gordon’s absence, averaging 17.3 points, 7.0 rebounds, 1.7 steals, 1.3 blocks and 3.7 three-pointers per contest. The Bulls have allowed at least 100 points in five of their last six games, so this could be another high-scoring contest based on the Magic’s pace of play. He is only shooting guard eligible on DraftKings, but should still provide value on both sites regardless of his position.

POWER FORWARDS

Kyle Kuzma, LAL at HOU

DraftKings = $5,800

The Lakers frontcourt is going to be a little thin going forward as Brook Lopez (ankle) has been ruled out for three weeks. While he wasn’t playing particularly well, Lopez was still averaging 22 minutes per game. Kuzma should be one of the players who benefits from Lopez’s absence, which he showed by playing 40 minutes in Monday’s overtime loss to the Warriors. The Rockets like to use a lot of small lineups, which fits well with Kuzma’s skillset. The price is right to get him in your lineup for this game.

Trey Lyles, DEN vs. MIN
FanDuel = $4,800
DraftKings = $4,800

Lyles did not play much earlier this year, logging at least 20 minutes in only one of the first 19 games. An injury to Nikola Jokic opened up some playing time for Lyles, and it doesn’t look like he’s planning on going back to a limited role anytime soon. He’s developed a consistent role over his last 10 games, averaging 13.6 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 2.2 three-pointers per contest. He’s passed Kenneth Faried on the depth chart as Faried hasn’t even played in two of the last four games. At this price, it might be worth taking a chance that Lyles keeps things rolling Wednesday.

CENTERS

NBA Daily Fantasy Basketball Lineup Picks - Value Plays

Alex Len, PHO at LAC

The Suns center position is extremely frustrating. They have been rotating DNP’s between Len, Tyson Chandler, and Greg Monroe, making it difficult to choose who to us in DFS any given night. One sliver of hope is that Len has played the last three games in a row, averaging 11.7 points, 13.0 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 2.3 blocks per game. He seems to be the more talented player between the three, it’s just a matter of getting consistent minutes. Keep an eye on his status throughout the day as he has value at this price if he takes the floor.

Bam Adebayo, MIA at BOS
FanDuel = $4,900
DraftKings = $4,600

With all the Heat’s problems with injuries already detailed, Adebayo is one of the players who has been counted on for extra minutes. His offensive upside isn’t great, but Adebayo has averaged 11.0 points and 6.2 rebounds over his last five games. This isn’t an ideal matchup against a tough Celtics defense, but there aren’t great cheap options at center Wednesday. If you want to take a chance on someone who won’t cost much, Adebayo could provide value.

NBA Fantasy Basketball Schedule Analysis for Week 9

With the holidays rapidly approaching, the NBA is loaded this week with 50 games on the schedule. It’s important to know the intricacies of the schedule to gain an advantage over your opponent in a head-to-head league as starting your best players might not always give you the best chance to win. Here are the moves you want to consider for your team based on the week ahead.

Teams With The Most Games – 4 Games Each
Boston Celtics, Brooklyn Nets, Charlotte Hornets, Cleveland Cavaliers, Detroit Pistons, Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Clippers, Memphis Grizzlies, Miami Heat, Oklahoma City Thunder, Portland Trail Blazers, Toronto Raptors, Washington Wizards

With elite players such as LeBron James, James Harden, and Russell Westbrook all scheduled to have four games each this week, many of you will be starting off with an excellent foundation. If you do need help filling out the rest of your starting lineup, consider adding the below players who can all provide value based on their schedule.

NBA Fantasy Basketball Schedule Analysis for Week 9
Kelly Olynyk, Miami Heat

The Heat are without arguably their best player in Hassan Whiteside (knee) as he has missed the last five games. Olynyk has played well in his absence, averaging 11.6 points, 5.8 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 0.8 blocks and 1.2 three-pointers in those five games. Not only did he play at least 25 minutes in each game, but he started the last two. There is a chance that Whiteside returns at some point this week, but with four games in six days, he’s likely going to see limited minutes when he does return. Olynyk is still available in 53% of Yahoo! leagues and he can provide you with solid all-around numbers.

Caris LeVert, Brooklyn Nets

The Nets have been decimated by injuries this year, leaving LeVert to average a career-high 26 minutes per game. He’s played more than that lately, logging at least 28 minutes in six of his last seven games. He has provided balanced production by averaging 13.0 points, 2.7 rebounds, 5.4 assists, 2.0 steals 1.0 three-pointer in those seven contests. LeVert’s 20.9% usage rate is second-best on the team among players to appear in at least 17 games this season. Still available in 62% of Yahoo! leagues, he could be a valuable addition to your squad for Week 9.

Jakob Poeltl, Toronto Raptors

The Raptors clearly don’t like what they are getting out of starting center Jonas Valanciunas as he is averaging a career-low 20 minutes per game. With minutes up for grabs, Poeltl has been able to establish a significant role off the bench. He has played at least 17 minutes in six straight games, four of which he played at least 22 minutes. He has cashed in his opportunity by averaging 11.7 points, 4.8 rebounds and 0.7 blocks per game. He’s not going to provide you hardly any assists, but take a look at him if you need help at center. He’s still available in 90% of Yahoo! leagues.

Teams With The Fewest Games – 2 Games Each
Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Lakers, Philadelphia 76ers

There are 13 teams playing at least four games this week, leaving players on the three teams that only play two each to see a significant decrease in value.  Consider benching the below players who would normally be in your starting lineup otherwise.

NBA Fantasy Basketball Schedule Analysis for Week 9

Robert Covington, Philadelphia 76ers

Covington (back) missed Sunday’s game against the New Orleans Pelicans and is listed as doubtful for Tuesday’s game against the  Minnesota Timberwolves. Do you really want to risk putting him in your lineup with the potential that he plays only one game, or maybe none at all, this week? He’s a streaky shooter, so even if things do change quickly and he is able to play both games, it could be ugly if he’s not playing at 100%. Don’t take the risk, put him on your bench.

Lonzo Ball, Los Angeles Lakers

The Lakers continue to show no hesitation to pull Ball in games when he is struggling. He has played 27 minutes or less in three of his last six games, often sitting out big portions of the fourth quarter. He continues to struggle from the field and is attempting way too many three-pointers considering he’s only shooting 24.6% from behind the arc. His counting stats still give him value most weeks, but with only two games for the second straight week, keep Ball on your bench.

Brook Lopez, Los Angeles Lakers

The move to LA has not been successful for Lopez as he is averaging a career-low 23 minutes per game. While never a great source of rebounds for a center, he is not helping fantasy owners by averaging a meager 4.5 rebounds per game this season. To put that into perspective, Trail Blazers backup center Ed Davis is averaging 7.1 rebounds in three fewer minutes per game. Lopez just doesn’t play enough anymore to be someone you want to start in a week with only two games.

POINT GUARDS

NBA Daily Fantasy Basketball Lineup Picks

Russell Westbrook, OKC at BKN
FanDuel = $11,500
DraftKings = $12,000

Westbrook is close to averaging a triple-double again as he enters Thursday averaging 22.5 points, 9.3 rebounds and 9.9 assists per game. He’s been even better over the Thunder’s three-game winning streak, averaging 23.6 points, 10.3 rebounds, and 12.6 assists. His 33.3% usage rate is sixth-best in the NBA, so he could be in for a huge performance Thursday considering the Nets play at the third-fastest pace (104.9) in the league. With so little talent on the Thunder bench, Westbrook is going to continue to dominate in DFS.

Tomas Satoransky, WAS at PHO
FanDuel = $4,700
DraftKings = $4,100

Satoransky got off to a hot start with John Wall (knee) sidelined but has struggled to average only 7.5 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists over his last two games. The good news is that he is still playing more minutes than the fill-in starter Tim Frazier, so the opportunities are there.  The Suns are a terrible defensive team and they play at the second-fastest pace (105.3) in the league, leaving their opponents with great upside. Even with his difficulties of late, this could be a bounce-back performance for Satoransky Thursday.

SHOOTING GUARDS

NBA Daily Fantasy Basketball Lineup Picks

James Harden, HOU at UTA

DraftKings = $11,000

There was some fear that Harden would see a decrease in production with the return of Chris Paul, but nothing seems to be able to slow him down. In seven games since Paul’s return, Harden is averaging 32.7 points, 5.6 rebounds, 8.6 assists, 1.9 steals and 4.9 three-pointers per game. Paul has clearly taken a back seat offensively, so expect Harden to continue to stuff the stat sheet. He rocked the Jazz for 56 points earlier this season, so pay up for Harden again Thursday.

Troy Daniels, PHO vs. WAS
FanDuel = $3,700
DraftKings = $4,100

The Suns are going to be without Devin Booker (groin) for two-to-three weeks, leaving a huge offensive void on their team. Not only was he their best scorer, but he took a ton of shots as he’s averaged 18.8 shot attempts per game. It’s going to take a collective effort to replace him and Daniels may be one of those players who gets a boost. He doesn’t get much playing time, but he is averaging 12.8 points and 3.6 three-pointers in the five games where he has played at least 20 minutes this year. Considering he won’t cost you much, he might be worth the risk in tournament play.

SMALL FORWARDS

T.J. Warren, PHO vs. WAS

DraftKings = $6,500

Speaking of guys trying to make up for Booker’s absence, Warren will likely now be counted on to lead the team in scoring. He’s already averaging 18.4 points per game with a 24.8% usage rate, both second-best on the team behind Booker. Warren has scored at least 25 points in a game six times this season, showing he can have excellent upside. With so little talent around him, Warren should get plenty of opportunities to be a valuable part of your entry Thursday.

Brandon Ingram, LAL at PHI
FanDuel = $6,800
DraftKings = $6,400

Ingram is shaping up to be an offensive force for the Lakers this season and is averaging 19.1 points over his last nine games. He’s averaging five more shot attempts per game this season, so expect this to be a trend that continues throughout the rest of the year. This is an excellent matchup Thursday as both the Lakers and the Sixers are in the top-four in the NBA in terms of pace of play. It suited Ingram well when these teams faced off earlier this season as he finished with 26 points, 11 rebounds, three assists and two blocks. Get him back in your lineup for this game.

POWER FORWARDS

NBA Daily Fantasy Basketball Lineup Picks

Ben Simmons, PHI vs. LAL
FanDuel = $10,500
DraftKings = $9,900

The Wizards raised some eyebrows last week when they went to Hack-a-Ben, putting Simmons on the free-throw a whopping 29 times. Simmons really struggled, making only 15 attempts and showing what looked to be a major weakness in his game. He’s rebounded from that nicely, making 6-of-8 free-throws over three games since. He hasn’t been tested much, but it’s something to keep an eye one. His ability to provide excellent all-around counting stats makes him a great DFS option on most nights, but tonight is especially promising considering the pace at which both of these teams play. Of note, Simmons is only available at power forward on FanDuel. He is available at point guard and small forward on DraftKings.

Markieff Morris, WAS at PHO
FanDuel = $4,800
DraftKings = $4,700

Morris has struggled for most of this season but showed he still has upside when he scored 23 points to go along with seven rebounds, three assists, and two blocks Friday against the Detroit Pistons. Using the revenge game angle can be tricky, but Morris’ tenure as a member of the Suns did not end well. He has played against them three times since, averaging 10.7 points, 5.4 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 1.3 blocks in those games. With a limited slate and so few viable cheap options at power forward, you may want to consider Morris.

CENTERS

Joel Embiid, PHI vs. LAL

DraftKings = $10,100

Thursday brings Embiid’s second game against the Lakers this season. He provided a memorable performance in their first meeting, scoring 46 points to go along with 15 rebounds, seven assists, and seven blocks. The Lakers struggle to defend the center position and really don’t have anyone capable of slowing down Embiid. It’s going to cost you a lot, but Embiid should be worth the price Thursday.

Jarrett Allen, BKN vs. OKC

DraftKings = $3,400

The Thunder certainly lack depth, but the one thing they do have is an outstanding center in Steven Adams. Center might be the weakest position on the Nets roster, but someone is going to have to battle with Adams. Allen is starting to show promise off the Nets bench, averaging 9.7 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.3 blocks over his last three games. That’s certainly nothing to write home about, but he may see an uptick in production if he gets a few extra minutes Thursday. If you want to take a risk on a very cheap center, Allen is someone to think about.

NBA Fantasy Basketball Schedule Analysis for Week 8

The NBA starts off the first full week of December with three days with at least 10 games. With 52 total games this week, it’s important to know the intricacies of the schedule to gain an advantage over your opponent in a head-to-head league as starting your best players might not always give you the best chance to win. Here are the moves you want to consider for your team based on the week ahead.

Teams With The Most Games – 4 Games Each
Atlanta Hawks, Boston Celtics, Charlotte Hornets, Chicago Bulls, Cleveland Cavaliers, Dallas Mavericks, Denver Nuggets, Detroit Pistons, Indiana Pacers, Memphis Grizzlies, Milwaukee Bucks, New Orleans Pelicans, New York Knicks, Orlando Magic, Philadelphia 76ers, Phoenix Suns, San Antonio Spurs, Utah Jazz, Washington Wizards

There are a staggering 19 teams with four games each this week, meaning you might not need as much help as you have in previous weeks this season. If you aren’t fortunate enough to have most of your players on these teams this week, consider adding the below to gain back that edge.

NBA Fantasy Basketball Schedule Analysis for Week 8

Jonathon Simmons, Orlando Magic

After beginning the season as a member of the second unit, Simmons has started each of his last four games. With Terrence Ross (knee) out indefinitely, Simmons should continue to start and get big minutes. One of his four starts was a dud against the Oklahoma City Thunder, but he averaged 18.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.0 steal and 1.7 three-pointers over the other three. The Magic have four favorable matchups this week as they play the Hornets, Nuggets and the Hawks twice, all three of which are in the top half of the NBA in terms of pace of play. If you need offense, Simmons can give you a boost and is still available in 57% of Yahoo! leagues.

Ersan Ilyasova, Atlanta Hawks

The Hawks are decimated up front as they are expected to be without Dewayne Dedmon (leg) and John Collins (shoulder) for this entire week. Mike Muscala (ankle) is also without a timetable for his return, so Ilyasova should have a big role until the Hawks start to get healthy. He showed what he can do with more minutes last season as he averaged 10.4 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.2 three-pointers in 24 minutes per game. He could get even more playing time than that, giving him excellent value. Still available in 64% of Yahoo! leagues, you shouldn’t hesitate to pick him up if you can.

Tomas Satoransky, Washington Wizards

Tim Frazier has been starting in place of John Wall (knee), but he’s not the player you want to pick up this week. Satoransky has outplayed him to this point, averaging 12.0 points, 3.6 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 1.0 three-pointers over his last three games. His scoring has increased in all three of those games as he continues to get comfortable playing extended minutes. If he continues to play this well, he’s only going to get more opportunities to produce. If you need point guard help, go get Satoransky as he’s still available in 88% of Yahoo! leagues.

Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Clippers, Los Angeles Lakers, Miami Heat, Portland Trail Blazers

With so many teams playing four games this week, the five teams that only play two each will see their players value decrease significantly.  Consider benching the below players who would normally be in your starting lineup otherwise.

NBA Fantasy Basketball Schedule Analysis for Week 8

Lonzo Ball, Los Angeles Lakers

Ball has been a killer for fantasy owners in terms of percentages as he is shooting only 31.3% from the field and 50.0% from the charity stripe. The main value he provides owners is his ability to provide all-around counting stats, but even that is hurt by his 8.7 points per game average. The Lakers have shown a tendency to bench him late in games if he’s struggling and he has now played 26 minutes or less in two of his last four games. With only two games on the schedule this week, Ball likely won’t be able to provide enough value to warrant being in your lineup.

Brandon Ingram, Los Angeles Lakers

Ingram has really improved offensively this season as not only is he averaging 16.0 points per game, but he’s shooting 46.3% from the field after shooting only 40.2% last year. He has already scored at least 20 points in a game five times this season, something he only did twice all last season. The problem for this week is that he doesn’t excel in any other area and provides little in terms of steals, blocks, and three-pointers. With only two games on the schedule, there just isn’t enough meat on the bone here to warrant starting him.

James Johnson, Miami Heat

Johnson is the opposite of Ingram as his value comes in terms of his all-around value. His scoring is down this season, but he’s averaging career-highs in rebounds (5.2) and assists (4.1) per game. He’s hit a rough patch lately, averaging 7.3 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.7 assists over his last three games. With Hassan Whiteside (knee) out of action for that stretch, it’s no surprise that Johnson saw a decrease in assists without one of the team’s best scoring options. With very little upside, make sure Johnson is firmly on your bench this week.

Russell Westbrook, OKC at ORL

The Thunder are still working through the growing pains of their massive roster overhaul, resulting in Westbrook’s usage rate dropping from 41.7% last year to 32.6% this year. That’s still good enough for sixth-best in the NBA, but his scoring has dropped 10 points per game as a result. He’s playing like his old self of late, averaging 27.8 points, 12.3 rebounds and 10.3 assists over his last four games. Wednesday brings a great matchup against a Magic team that really struggles to defend opposing point guards. This is one of those games where you want to pay up to get Westbrook in your entry.

Tim Frazier has taken over the starting point guard job the last two games with John Wall injured but is averaging only 6.5 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 3.0 assists in those games. Satoransky ended up playing 22 minutes Tuesday against the Minnesota Timberwolves due to Frazier’s struggles and he came through with seven points, five rebounds, six assists and one steal. He may have earned himself more minutes again Wednesday. This should be an uptempo game as the Sixers play at the fourth-fastest pace (104.6) in the league, so take a chance on Satoransky in tournament play if you need a cheap point guard.

SHOOTING GUARDS

Bradley Beal, WAS at PHI

A popular DFS play Tuesday due to Wall’s injury, Beal was a flop as he scored only eight points on 2-of-11 shooting from the field. He had scored at least 22 points in six straight games entering Tuesday, so don’t read too much into one bad shooting night. His 28.9% usage rate is tied for 16th best in the league, so he clearly will get plenty of opportunities to make up for it in this game. This could be a high-scoring contest, so get Beal back in your lineup.

Nicolas Batum, CHA at TOR

DraftKings = $5,800

Batum hasn’t been able to find his groove since returning from injury as he’s only averaging 10.2 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game. He’s had a few extra days to rest as he hasn’t played since Saturday. Starting point guard Kemba Walker is listed as doubtful for this game with a should injury, which could mean Michael Carter-Williams would start in his place. He’s also averaging career-highs in rebounds (7.3), steals (1.6) and three-pointers (2.0) per game this season, giving him excellent all-around value. The potential is here for Porter’s production to exceed his price point in this game.

Stephenson is only averaging 21 minutes per game this season, but he has played more than that in each of the last five games. He is playing at his best right now as he has at least 16 points, eight rebounds and five assists in both of his last two games. While one of those was a start in place of the since-returned Victor Oladipo, it was encouraging to see him still produce coming off the bench in his last game. Both the Pacers and Rockets play at a fast pace and the Rockets like to use a lot of small lineups, so Stephenson should get plenty of playing time and have value at this price.

Harris is currently having the best season of his career as he’s averaging 19.1 points, 5.4 rebounds, and a whopping 2.9 three-pointers per game. He’s attempting a career-high 6.1 three-pointers per game and making them at a rate of 47.4%, which may be hard for him to sustain. Don’t worry about that Wednesday though against a Suns team that allows the fifth-highest three-point shooting percentage (37.7%) and the most points per game (115.1) in the league.

The Lakers wasted no time in the first game for Nance in almost a month as he started and played 30 minutes Monday against the Los Angeles Clippers. He just missed a double-double (nine points and eight rebounds) and recorded four steals. Although he has only played in nine games this season, he has recorded at least two steals five times already. This should be an uptempo game with a lot of small lineups, so Nance could really thrive. He’s a good play on both sites, but I really like him on FanDuel based on his price there.

Capela hasn’t played more than 29 minutes in each of his last six games, but he still managed to average 13.3 points, 10.5 rebounds and 1.7 blocks over those contests. With the Rockets playing so well, it’s encouraging that Capela can provide value even in games when he plays limited minutes due to the team having a big lead early. The Rockets have been successful playing small lineups and taking a lot of three’s in large part because of Capela’s ability to dominate the glass. He’s a great fit in this offense and should be in line for a big game against a Pacers team that struggles to defend the center position.

Steven Adams, OKC at ORL

Adams recorded only six points and three rebounds in 27 minutes Saturday against the Dallas Mavericks, but it wasn’t a great matchup as the Mavericks like to play small. Wednesday brings a much friendlier opponent in Nikola Vucevic and the Magic. Adams is averaging 31 minutes per game this season, so expect him to get more playing time and return to his productive self in this game.

Week 6 brings a bit of a different schedule in the NBA as there is only one game Tuesday and no teams will play Thursday. There are still advantages to be gained over your opponent though by diving deeper into which teams play the most and fewest games. Here are the moves you want to consider for your team based on the schedule this week.

Teams With The Most Games – 4 Games Each
Atlanta Hawks, Boston Celtics, Charlotte Hornets, Chicago Bulls, Memphis Grizzlies, Minnesota Timberwolves, New Orleans Pelicans, New York Knicks, Oklahoma City Thunder, Orlando Magic, Portland Trail Blazers

There are 11 teams that all play four games each this week, giving their players added value. Fantasy suds like Kyrie Irving, DeMarcus Cousins, and Kristaps Porzingis will be even more valuable with this advantage. If you aren’t lucky enough to have several players from these teams on your fantasy squad, consider adding the players below.

NBA Fantasy Basketball Schedule Analysis for Week 6

Denzel Valentine, Chicago Bulls

Valentine has finally moved into the starting lineup for the Bulls after they had really struggled to find a viable starter at small forward. He played at least 32 minutes in both starts, averaging 13.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 3.5 three-pointers. Even though David Nwaba has a chance of returning from injury at some point this week, Valentine is still one of the better scoring options on the Bulls. He is still available in 71% of Yahoo! leagues and would be an especially good pickup if you need help with three-pointers.

Mario Chalmers, Memphis Grizzlies

The Grizzlies are down one of their best players as Mike Conley will be out for at least two weeks due to injury. His absence opens up an opportunity for Mario Chalmers to join the starting five. Chalmers has played well in three starts so far this season, averaging 7.0 points, 3.7 rebounds, 6.3 assists and 2.7 steals per game. With two of his four games this week being matchups against bad teams in the Mavericks and Nets, Chalmers could be in for some big assists and steals totals. He is still available in 88% of Yahoo! leagues.

Jerami Grant, Oklahoma City Thunder

The Thunder have one of the best starting five in the league, but they also have one of the weakest second units. One of their best bench players is Grant, who is averaging 24 minutes per game as a result. While he hasn’t excelled in any particular area, he has been solid with averages of 8.9 points, 4.7 rebounds, 1.1 assists, 0.9 steals and 0.9 blocks per game. Grant has great matchups this week with three of his four games coming against the Warriors, Pistons and Mavericks, all teams that tend to use small lineups. If you need to bench a forward who is only playing two games this week, look for Grant on waivers as he is still available in 92% of Yahoo! leagues.

With so many teams playing four games this week, the players on the three teams that only play two games take a major hit. Consider benching the below players who would normally be in your starting lineup.

Brook Lopez, Los Angeles Lakers

Lopez is having a down year overall as he is averaging 15.4 points, 4.8 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.8 blocks and 1.5 three-pointers per game. Part of the problem is that he is averaging a career-low 24 minutes per contest. He always struggled to provide sufficient rebounding numbers out of the center spot, but his value takes a real hit if he’s not playing enough to provide added value from behind the arc. With only two games on the schedule this week, it’s best to put Lopez on your bench.

Reggie Jackson, Detroit Pistons

Jackson has been a steady source of production for fantasy owners as he is averaging 15.6 points, 3.3 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 1.4 three-pointers per game. One of the main reasons for his improvement is that he is shooting 45.1% from the field after struggling to shoot only 41.9% last year. While he does have two decent matchups this week against the Cavaliers and Thunder, he doesn’t excel in any one area enough to keep him in your lineup. Valentine and Chalmers are both shaping up to be better options than Jackson this week.

Eric Gordon, Houston Rockets

Gordon is having one of the best starts to his career as he is averaging 20.9 points, 2.2 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 3.5 three-pointers per game. One of the main reasons for his hot start is because he was starting in place of the injured Chris Paul. Paul has returned, pushing Gordon back to a bench role. In his last two games off the bench, Gordon is averaging 12.5 points, 1.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.0 three-pointers per game. In his new role and only two games this week, it would be wise to put him on your bench.

He and DeMar DeRozan are the focal points of the Raptors offense, so don’t expect his scoring opportunities to decrease anytime soon. The Knicks are in the top-five for most fantasy points allowed to point guards, leaving Lowry as a viable option at a reasonable price Friday.

Dinwiddie was stellar filling in for the injured D’Angelo Russell as he scored 12 points to go along with three rebounds, and 11 assists against a tough Boston Celtics defense Tuesday. Russell is expected to be out again Friday, making Dinwiddie an excellent value play with so little depth behind him.

His usage rate of 29.1% puts him at 16th in the NBA, which is ahead of the likes of Stephen Curry, Blake Griffin, and John Wall. The Jazz will rely on him heavily for offense again Friday, so there is great potential here against a bad Nets defense.

Clarkson has been playing really well this season and now he’s stealing minutes away from the struggling Lonzo Ball. The Lakers just played the Suns Monday and Clarkson put up 25 points in that game, so keep rolling with him until he shows signs of slowing down.

The Clippers have plenty of offensive weapons, so this could be another close contest. He will cost you a ton, but he should be well worth it Friday.

Sefolosha started and played 32 minutes when these teams met Saturday, finishing with nine points, nine rebounds, one assist and five steals. While he doesn’t have a ton of offensive upside, he can provide you with enough rebounds and steals to be of value at this cheap price.

With the Nets down their two best offensive players in Russell and Jeremy Lin, they are going to need scoring from Hollis-Jefferson. He is taking an average of 10 shots per contest and is shooting 49.2% from the field, taking his game to new levels so far. In a game that should see plenty of small lineups, look for him to thrive.

Yes, I like a lot of players from this game. What’s not to like though? The Nets are allowing the second-most points per game in the league and the Jazz are without their defensive anchor in Rudy Gobert. Favors is now starting at center and crushed the Nets for 24 points, 12 rebounds and two blocks in their previous meeting. The Nets are particularly bad at guarding opposing centers, so expect Favors (who is also eligible at power forward on both sites) to shine once again.

While Dedmon is a fine player, he doesn’t have anywhere near the offensive skills that Nurkic does. Don’t overthink it, put Nurkic in your entry.

Plumlee would be starting for a lot of other teams in the league, but he’s buried behind Nikola Jokic in Denver. As a result, he is only averaging 15 minutes per game. There is the potential that he could see an increase in playing time Friday against the big Pelicans frontcourt. With averages of 6.1 points, 4.0 rebounds, 0.9 steals and 0.8 blocks per game in his limited playing time this year, he could far exceed his price point with some extra run in this game. If you want to take a chance on a cheap center in tournament play, Plumlee is someone you should consider.

He finished with five assists in four of those five games, so he can provide value at this cheap price even if he isn’t providing much offense.

The Pacers are allowing the seventh-most points per game (109.1) in the NBA, so Evans is primed for another big performance Wednesday.

Throw in averages of 10.3 rebounds, 4.8 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.8 blocks per game and you get someone worthy of his lofty price Wednesday. He’s a slightly better value on FanDuel where he would cost 20.3% of your budget as opposed to a commitment of 22.6% of your budget on DraftKings.

The Bulls will be without Justin Holiday Wednesday after the birth of his child and it is expected that Kris Dunn will take his place in the starting lineup. While Dunn would be replacing him in the starting five, it likely will also lead to more minutes for Valentine. When the Bulls faced the Thunder earlier this season, Valentine scored eight points go to along with nine rebounds, three assists, one steal and two three-pointers in 31 minutes. He was only 3-for-12 from the field in that game, so he could have had a really big night if he wasn’t ice cold from the floor. At this price, Valentine could be a great value play.

This is a promising matchup against the Timberwolves as Aldridge scored 25 points to go along with 10 rebounds, four assists and two blocks against them earlier this season. He is very reasonably priced on both sites based on his production potential.

Portis has come off suspension to thrive on a Bulls team with a serious lack of talent as he is averaging 19.3 points, 10.0 rebounds and 2.3 assists in three games this season. Playing time has not been an issue and he played a season-high 30 minutes in his last game Saturday against the Spurs. The Thunder are lacking size up front and will likely be without Steven Adams due to injury as well, meaning plenty of small lineups. Portis could also steal some minutes at the five from Robin Lopez as a result. Get him in your lineup.

There are a lot of elite DFS options at the center position taking the floor Wednesday, but Whiteside may provide the most value based on his price on both sites. He won’t bust your budget while providing you with a high floor option.

Wednesday brings a great matchup against the Kings as they are one of the worst teams at defending the center position in the league. As you prepare your lineup for your head-to-head league for Week 5, remember it’s important to take a look at the schedule to see where you can gain an edge of your opponent. Not only do you want to target picking up players on waivers who play the most games for the week, but you may also need to make a tough choice and bench one of your better players because they play too few games.  Here are the moves you want to consider for your team.

Teams With The Most Games – 4 Games Each
Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Lakers, Minnesota Timberwolves, Phoenix Suns, Portland Trail Blazers, Sacramento Kings, Toronto Raptors, Utah Jazz, Washington Wizards

Nine teams have the advantage of playing four games each this week. With the Warriors, Trail Blazers and Wizards among those teams, some elite fantasy players will have an even greater impact this week. If you need help though, consider checking the waiver wire for the players below.

Marquese Chriss, Phoenix Suns

Chriss is only averaging 21 minutes per game this season, but he has still been able to average a respectable 7.2 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 1.3 blocks and 1.1 three-pointers. He has seen a slight increase in playing time lately as he played at least 25 minutes in two of the last three games. In those two games, he averaged 11.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.0 blocks and 3.0 three-pointers. The four games the Suns play this week come against the Rockets, Bulls and twice against the Lakers. None of these teams have elite defenses and tend to play smaller lineups, which could lead to some very valuable numbers from Chriss. He is currently available in 44% of Yahoo! leagues.

Thabo Sefolosha, Utah Jazz

The Jazz have lost one of their best players in Rudy Gobert for at least a month due to injury, paving the way for more minutes for Sefolosha. He actually started at power forward Saturday against the Nets and finished with nine points, nine rebounds, one assist, five steals and one three-pointer in 32 minutes. This week brings excellent matchups against the Timberwolves, Knicks, Nets and Magic. Sefolosha should see increased playing time throughout the week, making him a valuable pickup who is still available in 90% of Yahoo! leagues.

Bogdan Bogdanovic, Sacramento Kings

Bogdanovic’s value comes in his offensive production as he is averaging 9.9 points and 0.9 three-pointers in 24 minutes per game. After starting the season coming off the bench, he has now started each of the last seven games. The Kings play the Wizards, Hawks and two games against the Trail Blazers this week, with the games against the Wizards and Hawks providing really favorable matchups. If you need some offense and three-point shooting, Bogdanovic can provide value. He is currently available in 90% of Yahoo! leagues.

Carmelo Anthony, Oklahoma City Thunder

Anthony sat out Sunday’s game against the Mavericks with a back injury. While it is largely believed that he was sat as a precaution, it’s still worrisome considering he only has two games on the schedule this week. The matchups are not great either as the Thunder play the Bulls and the Spurs. The Bulls are terrible, so if Anthony isn’t rested for that game as well, he at least might play limited minutes once the game gets out of hand. The Spurs are one of the best defensive teams in the league, so scoring might be hard to come by in that game. If there was ever a week to put Anthony on your bench, this is it.

Steven Adams, Oklahoma City Thunder

Like Anthony, Adams is also dealing with an injury and has sat out the last two games. When healthy, he’s been extremely valuable this season as he is averaging 12.3 points, 8.4 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 1.3 blocks per game while shooting 65.2% from the field and 76.0% from the free-throw line. With his status uncertain heading into the weak and the two unfavorable matchups I already outlined, it might be a wise idea to bench him.

If you’re looking at Westbrook and trying to decide if he’s in the same spot as last year, you’re in the same boat as the rest of us. Personally, I don’t think his stats will be AS crazy, but I do think he’s still underpriced at this number. I look for Westbrook to put up around 60 FP on most nights. Tonight, he draws an elite match-up with the fast-paced Pacers. They have Darren Collison at point guard, who’s all but a great defender. Westbrook will blow by him with ease and look at an interior full of guys like Domantas Sabonis, T.J. Leaf, and Al Jefferson. He should have his way in every facet of the game tonight and when you consider that the Pacers prefer to run, it’s gravy. Westbrook is an elite play in all formats, but be cognizant that he is expensive and you’ll be sacrificing later in spots you may not want to. My other favorite top PG is John Wall, who’s just a bit cheaper and facing a similar Lakers squad. Don’t be afraid of these high-end PG’s tonight. At least one of them is going to go nuts.

We enter the day with Hassan Whiteside out while Dion Waiters and Goran Dragic remain questionable. Tyler Johnson has been seeing big minutes with these guys in, so he’d be forced to get close to 40 if they both miss. This is a guy who just signed a $50 million dollar deal with the Heat a year ago, so he’s going to get worked into the game plan as much as anyone. This isn’t a punt play where you have to worry about the guy seeing the court. Anyway these injuries end up, Johnson will see between 30-40 minutes. The Spurs are still a good defensive team, but not nearly to the same degree as when Kawhi is on the floor. Johnson is a pure minutes and price play. The match-up isn’t great, but it’s doable.

Shooting Guard

Avery Bradley

Stan Van Gundy has “taken fault” for the Pistons early struggles. Uh ya, I think so, Stan. When you pick up one of the best perimeter defenders in the league that can also shoot the 3 and rebound, you don’t play him 20 minutes for no reason. Avery Bradley should NEVER see less than 34 minutes if the Pistons goal is to win. But no, he will let Stanley Johnson accumulate 0 fantasy points in 40 minutes for who knows what reason. Sorry for the rant, but let’s hope it works. Bradley finally saw normal minutes last game and stunk. Sweet. Now his price is low and people will be off of him. The best of both worlds. If you think Bradley is just bad now, pick up my h2h’s. He sees a match-up with the T-Wolves where his defense will be very necessary. If Van Gundy finds a way to leave Bradley off the court against Wiggins and Butler, I give up on Stan the man for good. If Bradley sees the floor like normal, pencil in 6x value at $5k with the upside for much more.

Bradley Beal
FD $8,000 DK $7,300

Bradley Beal is one of the guys in the NBA that is truly fun to watch. He doesn’t flop. He doesn’t exaggerate or whimper over screens and throw his hands in 84 directions. He plays solid basketball on both sides of the floor. He was a top 4 3-point shooter in 2016 to combo with the Wizards effectiveness against opposing SG’s. Beal is one of the best SG’s in the game and sees a phenomenal match-up with the fast-pace Lake show. Beal has been over 40 in 2 of his first 3 contests and sees his best match-up yet. With a 231 over/under, Beal will demolish value as long as he sees 4 quarters of action. Vegas doesn’t expect it to be much of a blowout, so you can’t fade for that reason when these guys are projected so high. Shooting guard has some options, but Beal won’t be popular and has a great shot at putting up 45 in the late night hammer. 

Small Forward

Brandon Ingram
FD $5,100 DK $5,200

Brandon Ingram joins Bradley Beal as one of the guys in the NBA that’s fun to watch. The only problem is you never know if he’s going to be in the game. The Lakers rotations are always weird, but it looks like Walton is focused on getting Ingram over 28, at least. He is an FP per minute monster when on the floor and gives you some solid savings from similar guys a bit higher. The Wizards play just as fast as the Lakers, if not faster, and Kelly Oubre Jr. is no shutdown defender. This is also the same game we just touched on with the 231 over/under, so there’s never anything wrong with stacking that total. Ingram gives you a good amount of safety with an unknown ceiling. Expect this guy to have a couple games this year that blow people away. From the looks of my teams right now, let’s hope that’s tonight.

Paul George
FD $8,700 DK $8,000

I’d be careful to call this a “grudge match” or anything of the sort, but put yourself in his situation. For Paul George, this is one of the most important games of the season. For everyone else, it’s a game against a crappy Eastern Conference team in October. For that reason, look for George to get it working early and often. The Pacers don’t really have an SF, so they’ll toss a combo of Bogan Bogdanovich and Lance Stephenson at him.  Good luck. Paul George is also still in his prime, so let’s not look at him as such a clear cut 2nd option. He’s definitely a cut behind Russ, but most 2nd options aren’t putting up 50 FP a night. Play George if you have the salary and get the 40-60 safe fantasy points. 

Power Forward

Draymond Green
FD $7,800 DK $7,200

Draymond has yet to have a big game, which I love. Unless the narrative is that he’s now a bad basketball player, there is no argument as to why he’s a bad play. He’s facing a Raptors interior that will likely be without Jonas Valunciunas. That leaves a bunch of young PF’s and C’s with no experience to face off against Draymond Green, who is lethal from any spot on the court. He has the ability to go for 60 FP by stuffing the stat sheet, as long as the game stays close. He can also have an average Draymond game with 20 points, 8 board, 8 assists and a solid 50 fantasy points. This match-up with the Raptors won’t stand out to the public with more eye-catching games like Hou-Phi and Was-Lal. I’m not sure who they plan to put on Green, but they will definitely struggle. He’s a match-up problem for every team, but they should struggle to a much different degree. I guess Serge Ibaka will do his best as he has a pretty good defensive reputation, but it’s not for facing guys like Draymond. He is good against back to the basket PF’s. Not guys who do everything from everywhere. I hate Draymond Green as much as the next guy, but have to admit when the guy is in a good spot. I’ll have exposure to him over Simmons in a lot of tournaments. The % owned difference will be hilarious.

James Johnson and Kelly Olynyk
FD $6,500 – $5,500 DK $6,100 – $5,600

This, like Tyler Johnson, is a pure opportunity play. With Hassan Whiteside already ruled out, the Heat will be forced into some size against the Spurs. This will give both Kelly Olynyk and James Johnson around 30-35 minutes. They are both well over 1 FP/minute so far this year and it’s pretty consistent with 2016. Olynyk is a bit risky by nature(3-point shooter), but the opportunity will be there against guys like Pau Gasol and LMA. As for me, I’ll have exposure to both. I’m not a big fan of the 195 over/under, but as long as it keeps the crowds away, it’s fine. The Spurs play slow and so do the Heat, but these guys are just too cheap and seeing extended minutes at good positions. LMA and Gasol are also bad defenders, so it’s not like old Spurs team. The only real worry is the snail pace without Kawhi. Both Johnson and Olynyk are in play across the board. Keep out for news on who I’ll start against a bigger Spurs squad.

Center

NBA Daily Fantasy Basketball Lineup Picks - Rudy Gobert - Utah Jazz - Lineuplab

Rudy Gobert
FD $8,500 DK $7,500

The Suns play fast, and while that doesn’t help most centers this size, Gobert is amazing in it. He loves running the floor as it results in an abundance of blocks, putbacks, and transition dunks. The Jazz don’t typically run very much, so they see a huge uptick in production and projection when they do. He’ll individually face off with Tyson Chandler and Alex Len, who are both pretty good defenders. The thing is it doesn’t really matter. Gobert doesn’t score 1-on-1. He gets his numbers from everyone else screwing up. He’s a bit too cheap on both sites and it could cause him to gain some ownership, but there are a lot of good options at center, so maybe not.

Steven Adams
FD $6,900 DK $5,800

It looks like Myles Turner will be out once again and it opens the door up for Steven Adams. Adams has 40 fantasy points in 2 of his last 3 games and sees his best match-up yet. The Pacers, who play very fast, are also missing the only big guy that can guard anyone. Domantas Sabonis will have no chance at banging with Adams and you can pencil in the double-double right now. We’ve touched on a few of these Thunder guys and it has a lot to do with pace. The Pacers are extremely fast and have no problem shooting with 16 on the shot clock. They also give up a ton of FP to everyone besides the SG position. Take advantage of the high total and opportunity here.
